The Community Access Program's Youth Initiative (CAP-YI) provides CAP Sites around Newfoundland and Labrador with the opportunity to have a youth intern work at the centre for a 12 or 21 week period depending on if the position is full or part-time. Since 1996 more than 850 youth between the ages of 15 and 30 have been hired to work at CAP Sites. |

Informing a broad range of community members about the CAP Site. |

Developing publicity and promotional materials. |

Organizing information fairs and other promotional events. |
| » |
Encouraging local media to do stories on the CAP Site. |

Approaching local businesses and service clubs as potential partners. |
| » |
Promoting information sessions. |
| » |
Training the general public on basic computer concepts using Quick Clics or other equivalent training resources. |
| » |
Training CAP Site personnel so that they may train the general public. |
| » |
Training specific target groups on the use of the Internet (ie. CyberCamps) |
| » |
Delivering workshops focused on specific topics of interest. |
| » |
Maintaining records for the CAP Site. |
| » |
Helping to manage the overall operation of the CAP Site. |
| » |
Ensuring that all reports are completed on time. |
| » |
Maintaining communication with CAP-NL through email and the Intranet messageboard. |
| » |
Performing customized Internet searches for specific target groups. |
| » |
Identifying and submitting any success stories involving your CAP Site. |
| » |
Collecting data about the community or CAP Site clients (ie. exit polls). |
| » |
Setting up and/or maintaining hardware and software. |
| » |
Providing network troubleshooting. |
| » |
Developing a website for a community organization or business. |
| » |
Undertaking background research for the creation of a website. |
| » |
Helping community members develop their own website. |
| » |
Other tasks as outlined in the work plan submitted by the CAP Site. |
