During the past summer, CAP Youth Interns were very busy operating community access centres across the province. In thirty-nine (39) sites, Youth Interns delivered computer training sessions, carried out cybercamps for kids, and helped coordinate community events. Thank you to the interns and their supervisors for all their hard work.
As many of you are aware, the CAP-YI program for FALL 2004 and WINTER 2005 has not yet begun. CAP Newfoundland and Labrador has, however, been approved for additional youth funding. As such, we would like to make another call for applications to all CAP Sites. Positions will begin in early November or January. Please forward your application to Deidre Vey, Youth Employment Coordinator, at the contact information below. Applications will be accepted until Thursday, October 14, 2004. Sites who have already submitted an application need not re-apply. The CAP-YI Application can be found at www.nfcap.nf.ca. |

The application process for this year’s funding has now been completed. All applications have been reviewed and decisions have been made concerning funding approval.
For all CAP sites (other than public libraries), a Letter of Offer was mailed to you on September 30, 2004. Please note: to accept the Letter of Offer, you must sign and return the original document to our office by October 22, 2004. If you should have any questions concerning the Offer, please contact your Program Officer ASAP. For public library CAP sites, letters of approval were sent in the mail on October 5, 2004. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support and participation with the Community Access Program. We look forward to working with you this year to enhance public Internet services throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. |

| Over the next several months, Program Officers will be on the road visiting CAP sites. If you have not heard from your Program Officer concerning a site visit, feel free to contact them to see if they will be in your area. Please note: while the Program Officers are out of the office, you will still be able to reach them via email or call the CAP toll free # at 1-877-929-1829 for immediate assistance. | |||

Many CAP Sites have started to receive their "rack brochures" that are based on our provincial marketing strategy. On the back of each one-panel brochure there is a white space that is meant to allow individual CAP Sites to add its own information such as hours of operation, contact information, or services offered. If your CAP Site has access to a laser printer, you can easily personalize your brochures. Simply open your favourite word processing program and adjust the margins as follows:
Once you have your margins done, you can add any information that you want the public to know about your CAP Site. Just remember, you only have a limited space to work with and that you should always print a test version to make sure it looks as you want it before printing on all of your brochures. This is just a sample of the information you will receive in the CAP Marketing Toolkit that is currently being developed. |

First of all, thank you to the CAP Sites that have continued to submit monthly stats throughout the summer!
As this is the beginning of a new year of CAP funding, we want to clearly indicate that submitting monthly statistics is a requirement for all CAP sites. Payments will only be paid to the site if the monthly stats are up-to-date. Please note: the term of this year’s funding is from April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2005. If you plan to seek reimbursement of expenses made before the end of September, 2004, you must have online statistics for that period. Remember, your stats are important to us! This information is used to demonstrate how CAP is benefiting your community. We thank you in advance for your continued support. |

This year marks a change in how payments will be disbursed to CAP sites. Payments will be provided to CAP sites for reimbursement of costs incurred and paid. To request a payment: applicants must submit a Claim Form no less than quarterly and no more than monthly. This claim must report CAP related expenditures made during the reporting period and must include copies of receipts, invoices, and payroll records.
In exceptional cases, there may be a need for the Applicant to receive funding in advance of incurring costs. If requesting an advance payment, Applicants must: submit a cash advance claim form. Please note: Applicants must submit a claim to account for an advance within 30 days after the end of the advance period. Please note: both the Claim Form and the Advance Form can be found on the CAP website www.nfcap.nf.ca in the Resource Centre section. |
