| At CAP we are always trying to take advantage of the latest in technology. This Newsletter is just one of the ways. It has recently come to our attention that maybe not everyone is seeing this Newsletter the way it was intended. This has actually been designed as a web page as most email programs now support html-based emails. If you are only seeing the text of this page and not the colours, graphics and text formatting, please check your settings to ensure that you're receiving the full impact of our Newsletter. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised. | |||

Many thanks to those of you who have been submitting your monthly statistics! Just a reminder - all CAP site administrators are to submit their monthly statistics at the end of each month. Public Library CAP sites are advised that your instructions for submitting statistics will be forwarded to you by the Provincial Information and Library Resources Board in the near future.
To submit your monthly statistics, go to the Statistics section of the CAP Site Intranet and click on “Monthly Stats”. (Remember you will need your CAP Site’s username and password to get into the Intranet. These can be obtained from your Program Officer.) We realize that some of you have been having technical difficulty and we are trying to get the root of the problem. Please make your Program Officer aware that you are unable to submit your numbers. In the event that you cannot submit your statistics after several attempts, please e-mail your statistics to your Program Officer, so they can be entered from within our office. It is important that we obtain an accurate picture of site usage in the province! |

| For your information, Industry Canada has contracted the services of EKOS, a consulting firm, to do a nation-wide evaluation of the CAP Program. A number of CAP sites in Newfoundland and Labrador have been randomly selected by EKOS to be surveyed. Over the next few weeks, EKOS personnel will be contacting these CAP sites by phone to complete the survey. Please make every effort to cooperate with the EKOS representative if you are contacted. Thank you in advance! | |||

| Community Access Program Newfoundland and Labrador has embarked on an exciting new marketing campaign to raise awareness of the program in this province. Enlisting the services of Prime Communications Inc., CAP is now sporting a new logo! We have created a new informational brochure, posters for advertising training, and a leaflet that lists the CAP sites in the province. Merchandise bearing the new CAP logo will be distributed to all sites early in the fall. Stay tuned to your radio as well...CAP ads will begin running on major radio stations across the province very soon! | |||

We would like to remind everyone who had received Payment 1 of their 2003-2004 funding that Report 1 was due August 31, 2003. Public Library CAP Sites should note that their reports are being completed by the Provincial Information and Library Resources Board.
Your next payment will not be issued until Report 1 has been received and accepted, so please send them in as soon as possible. Reports can be faxed to our office at 729-3462. Again, the report should include: (1) a completed expenditure form (which lists all expenditures incurred from April 1, 2003; (2) copies of invoices and receipts for all purchases; (3) and copies of canceled cheques (or bank statements) which correspond to each purchase. The expenditure form can be found in the Resources section of the CAP Site Intranet: http://intranet.nfcap.nf.ca/cap_sites/index.php or can be obtained by contacting your Program Officer. |

| Building upon the success of the "netWorking for Canadians: Government @ your service" fair held in October 2002, the Federal Council of Newfoundland and Labrador, Government On Line Subcommittee, will be extending its reach beyond St. John's. During the period of Sept. 22 - Dec. 12, 2003, two students will be touring the province to exhibit Government On Line services. This will provide an opportunity to citizens and public service employees to learn more about what programs and services are on-line. They will be attending four trade shows and will visit no fewer than 30 CAP sites. Look for the exhibit and feel free to ask questions. | |||
