CAP DAY Prize Winners
On November 27, 2004 we celebrated our second annual CAP Day. Once again this year, we held a provincial prize draw through a special online ballot on our web site. Over 2,000 CAP patrons entered the contest during the day. We would like to extend our congratulations to the winners of the digital cameras: Christopher Hann of Burgeo, John Caines of Garnish, and Tamara Wornell of Greenspond. Thank you to everyone who took part in CAP Day and made it such a success.

Rushoon Grand OpeningBack to Top
Christ the King School in Rushoon On November 28, 2004 the Community Access Program celebrated the opening of its newest CAP site at Christ the King School in Rushoon. The project is the result of a strong community partnership that involves the Strategic Social Plan Project for Placentia West and Christ the King School. CAP gladly accepted the opportunity to help establish a site in this area of the Burin Peninsula which did not previously have convenient public access to the Internet. Welcome to the CAP family!
Update on Youth InternsBack to Top
As Youth Interns from the Fall Semester continue working hard at their CAP sites, 25 more youth began their internship this past month. CAP-YI Regional Training for the Winter Semester is now completed and new interns are eager to get started!

There are now 60 interns working in CAP sites across the province! Between planning training sessions, cooperating with local organizations, and organizing Cybercamps for kids, it looks like the next couple of months will be very busy. Keep an eye out for CAP activities in your area....
Program Officers conduct training with CSCBack to Top
In January 2005, Stefan Barnes, Wanda Mazerolle and youth intern, Sabrina Young participated in the Community Services Council’s “Strengthening the Volunteer Sector Through Information Technology Workshop” held in St. John’s and Gander. These workshops are a partnership of the Community Services Council and the College of the North Atlantic. CAP facilitated a training session on “Internet Browsing and Security” which focused on the implications of Internet browsers, cache and history on Internet security. The workshop was attended by representatives from a variety of community groups.

If you are aware of any similar workshops in your area, please notify our office. We will provide any assistance that we can in facilitating workshops or training opportunities.
CAP Sites on the MoveBack to Top
Two CAP sites in St. John’s have recently moved. The L’Association Communautaire Francophone de St-Jean CAP site has moved to the new Francophone school located at 65 Ridge Road, next to the College of the North Atlantic Ridge Road Campus. The Women Interested in Successful Employment (WISE) CAP site is now located at 136 Crosby Road, the Viking Building. Best wishes at your new locations!
